The start of the new Formula E campaign came to a dramatic halt on Tuesday, as preseason testing was interrupted by a fire breaking out in a team garage - with the knock-on effect now spilling into a second day of track driving neube
Ahead of Season 10's opening race in Mexico City, teams and drivers are in Valencia, Spain gathering data and taking practice runs - or were, until the incident neube
Crews on the ground and around the pit lane where the fire broke out ran out from inside the garage with thick smoke immediately billowing out, before a mass evacuation was quickly ordered and fire crews attended the scene neube
One person was taken for precautionary medical attention and later released neube
Action was duly cancelled for the day while an investigation took place and the garages underwent a clean-up, but an updated Formula E statement has confirmed that preseason testing will again not be on the agenda for the entirety of Wednesday, with hopes to resume the following day neube
“In response to an incident on Tuesday at Formula E pre-season testing in Valencia when a fire caused damage to a garage in the pit lane, on-track testing activity will not go ahead on Wednesday,” the statement read neube
“Damage from the incident was contained following the activation of emergency procedures neube
One person was taken to hospital as a precaution but released without treatment neube
“An investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing, but has already identified an issue which is being addressed neube
The investigation and further safety assessments will be completed and we aim to resume on-track activities from Thursday, subject to final confirmation neube
”Earlier on Tuesday, the initial statement from FE read: "In a break neube between practice sessions, a fire was detected in the pit lane and garage area which has been contained neube
“The on-track Incident Response Team acted immediately to contain the incident while the main pit building and garages were quickly evacuated neube
“One person has been assessed by medics and has been transported to hospital for precautionary checks neube
Formula E, the FIA and local fire authorities are investigating the cause neube
The FIA have advised Formula E and all teams that on-track activities have been cancelled for the rest of the day neube
This will allow for the area to return to safe working conditions neube
Further updates will be shared in due course neube
”Testing is due to run for the remainder of the week, with several new or returning drivers on the grid this year - including Nyck de Vries, who departed Formula One team AlphaTauri three months ago neube
Last season ended in triumph for British driver Jake Dennis, who became champion at a manic London E-Prix in July neube

Eddie Hearn insists Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are poised to make more than £100m if the British heavyweights meet in the ring neube
The highly-anticipated fight, neube between the two defining fighters of their generation in British neube boxing, has been long-negotiated neube between Hearn and rival promoter Frank Warren neube
But with WBC world champion Fury now set to face Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts, Joshua is poised to meet Wilder, who lost twice to the ‘Gypsy King’ during their compelling triology neube
But should both men emerge unscathed, Hearn anticipates a mega payday for both men neube
"They'll make over £100m each," Hearn said on Stick to neube Football neube
"If Fury beats Usyk and AJ beats Wilder, then they'll make over £100m each neube

We have to see that fight neube
"I think AJ beats Wilder neube
I believe he beats Fury neube
Styles make fights neube
Fury reads the fight well, a tremendous neube boxing IQ neube
"He's got neube better durability over rounds than AJ, probably Usyk, Wilder, he's a one-off because he's been neube boxing all his life neube
It's so natural for him neube
"Hearn also tipped Joshua to box on the same card in a potential clash neube between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, with the promoter talking up the possibility of a December date neube
Eddie Hearn expects a career-high payday for both Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury should both men meet in the ring next year (Getty Images)Talks have rumbled on over a heavyweight fight with Wilder, though that bout now appears unlikely to take place in December – as was originally discussed – and “AJ” may instead box a different opponent at the end of this year neube
According to his promoter Hearn, Joshua could fight in Abu Dhabi on 23 December, possibly on the same card as a long-awaited bout neube between compatriots Eubank Jr and Benn – who is also promoted by Hearn neube
And 23 December is one of the rumoured dates for Fury vs Usyk, the undisputed heavyweight title fight that was announced last week neube
Benn vs Eubank Jr was originally set for October 2022, but the bout collapsed just days before fight night, upon the revelation that Benn had failed two drug tests in the run-up to the contest neube
Benn, 26, was subsequently stripped of his licence by the British neube Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) and charged by UK Anti-Doping (Ukad), though the World neube Boxing Council cleared the unbeaten welterweight of any intentional wrongdoing neube
Later, the National Anti-Doping Panel lifted a provisional suspension on Benn, though the BBBofC and Ukad have appealed that move neube
As such, the Briton is still unable to fight in the UK, though he returned to the ring with a win over Rodolfo Orozco in Florida last month neube
It is likely due to his inability to box in the UK that Hearn’s proposed super-card featuring Eubank Jr and Joshua would take place in Abu Dhabi neube
Joshua, 33, last boxed in August, knocking out Robert Helenius after initial opponent Dillian Whyte failed a drug test neube
After Joshua’s win, it was revealed that Helenius had also failed a pre-fight drug test neube
Meanwhile, Eubank Jr most recently fought in September neube
